Euromillions - Tips For Choosing Numbers

Euromillions is the world's first multi-country lottery game in Europe. Initially started in 2004, the Euro-millions game launched in France, Great Britain and Spain before expanding to also include Austria, Belgium, Ireland, Luxembourg, Portugal and Switzerland. Players must live in one of the participating countries in order to purchase a ticket and participate in the lottery.

The way Euro millions works is simple; numbers are chosen from two separate fields. Five of them are selected between 1 and 50 followed by two more values (known as Lucky Stars) selected between 1 and 9. While the odds of winning the main jackpot can be relatively low, picking the right numbers for your ticket can increase your chances of winning.

* Since you are picking two separate sets of numbers, treat this unique lottery style as two different lottos. First, you must pick five number between 1 and 50 and two numbers between 1 and 9. Pick each set separately from the other and do not base the numbers you pick for one on the numbers you chose for the other - choose the numbers separately and independently.

* Follow the law of probability, which in the simplest of terms states that which is most likely to happen happens most often and that which is least likely to happen happens the least often. In regards to this type of lotto, if you play a number pattern that is likely to occur only 5 percent of the time, then you are bound to lose 95 percent of the time.

* Choosing completely random numbers can also increase your odds of winning. Avoid choosing obscure number patterns, such as choosing numbers ending in the same digit (e.g. 17, 27, 37, and so on). Generally speaking, you have a better chance of winning with entirely random numbers than you do selecting ones of significance (such as a birthdays, anniversaries, etc.).

* The winning values of Euro-millions are typically spread out across the entire number field so try to have an even mix of both odd and even numbers. In addition, when choosing five figures between 1 and 50, make sure you have two or three "high" values (those above 25) with the remaining values considered to be "low" (below 25).
